Year 1: Goldsworthy Class

Andy Goldsworthy, OBE is a British sculptor, photographer and environmentalist producing site-specific sculpture and land art situated in natural and urban settings. He lives and works in Scotland.

In Year 1 children develop their writing skills, have guided reading and phonics lessons daily as well as consolidating and progressing their learning in maths through number, shape, data handling and problem solving. They enjoy a broad curriculum with plenty of opportunity for hands on exploration and learning through play, especially in the first term.

Reading books go home every afternoon and are brought to school every morning. We encourage the children to read their phonics book every night. To support maths you could help your child count to 20, 50 and 100 forwards and backwards.

Reminders:

  • P.E. lessons are on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
  • Please return books every morning in book bags.
