This half term in Science, our topic is Magnets and Forces.
Magnets are a metal. They exert force. They can push (repel). They can also pull (attract) . They have two poles. The North pole and the South pole. Opposites attract. We explored magnetism. We found objects in our classroom that attract, repel or neither with magnets.
We learnt about friction. We conducted a fair test on how an object moves on different surfaces. We explored soft, rough, smooth and hard surfaces. We noticed the speed of the object moving differs depending on the surface it is on.
We know that some forces need contact and some forces do not. A magnetic force can work from a distance. We made paper planes to see the effect of air resistance on them.
