Year 1 have been learning all about the history of toys this half term, and in their design technology lessons they designed and made their own hand puppets. First they explored existing hand puppets, looking to see what materials they were made from and the different designs. Next they explored how materials could be joined together, so that a puppet could fit on a hand. Then they designed their own hand puppet and sewed a puppet template together. It was lots of the children’s first time sewing, and they did a brilliant job. Finally, they added detail to their puppets taking care to follow their designs.
