Today we went to Cutty Sark with our adults and our friends. This term we are learning about Christopher Columbus and the Seven continents so it was a great for us to go and see a real life ship for the first time! Some of us have never been on a ship so it was nice!

First we went on a busy train with lots of passengers and our teacher told us to make sure to be safe, respectful and committed so we tried our best.

First we got off at Canary Wharf and waited for a train and then we got on another train that took us straight to Cutty Sark. Did you know that we had to walk up 116 steps to exit the station. Our legs were very tired but we were being resilient and carried on. While walking up the stairs it reminded us of our trip to the Monument.

After we got off the station, from a distance we saw a tall, long gigantic ship- it was Cutty Sark! We couldn’t believe our eyes. We thought we were dreaming.

Aleeza “Did you also know that the Cutty Sark is a real-life clipper ship that once sailed across the seven seas, visiting different continents like Asia, Australia, and South America?”

Kaira ” I saw buildings that we have been learning about. I was looking out of the top deck and we looked at all those tall buildings like the Gherkins.”

Afif “When we got to the top deck some of us used a compass to look north, south, east and west. I found out the ship was built a long time ago, in 1869!”

MD Hamza “This trip helped us think about what it would be like to sail across the big ocean or around Africa. We learned how explorers found new places and helped connect the world. It made our geography learning really fun! We used our compasses on the top deck and felt like real adventurers.”
