Can you believe the Spring Term is already over? It feels like we blinked and suddenly the daffodils were blooming and the classroom was full of even taller, more confident, and incredibly proud Year 2 children! Time really does fly when you’re having fun—and what a fun-filled, learning-packed, giggle-filled term it’s been!

Our brilliant Year 2s have continued to amaze us every single day. Not only have they grown physically (lots of feet suddenly needing new shoes!), but they’ve also grown in maturity, resilience, and independence. It’s been such a joy to watch them blossom into curious, thoughtful, and enthusiastic learners.

This term has been brimming with new learning and exciting adventures. In English, we went on a literary journey with Paddington at St. Paul’s. The children were completely captivated by our favourite marmalade-loving bear, and we had so much fun innovating the story and making it our own. Then, inspired by our fantastic trip to Tower Bridge, we wrote our very own recounts—and wow, what incredible little writers we have! Their use of descriptive language, time connectives, and personal reflections showed just how much they’ve grown as authors.

One of the real highlights of this term was definitely World Book Day! Throughout the week, we got stuck into all things books: we shared stories, created our own book-inspired art, and even had some brilliant authors join us online. The children asked fantastic questions and were so inspired to hear what it’s like to actually write a book. It was a great day that truly celebrated the joy of reading and imagination.

We also had an amazing time during our special STEM Day. The classroom was full of wonder and curiosity as the children took part in a mystery challenge called “What’s in the Box?”. They had to use their senses, think carefully, and work together to figure out what could be hiding inside. We also had lots of fun exploring coding with our Bee-Bots—the excitement on their faces when their little robots followed their programmed paths was just priceless! It was such a hands-on morning, full of experimenting, problem-solving, and lots of laughs too.

We’ve been busy becoming experts on the United Kingdom. From landmarks to capital cities, flags to famous foods, the children have been exploring what makes our country so special!

In maths, multiplication and division have been the stars of the show. The children have taken on the challenge with so much determination and have made fantastic progress. It’s been lovely to see their confidence bloom with each lesson. Please do encourage your child to keep practising over the Easter break—Times Tables Rock Stars is a great way to keep those maths muscles strong while having fun (and maybe even starting a little friendly family competition!).

To finish the term with a splash of creativity, we held our Easter Hat Parade—and what a treat it was! The children designed and made their fabulous hats using recycled materials, showing off their imagination and care for the planet. After a joyful catwalk full of smiles and proud twirls, the hats were judged, and we celebrated everyone’s hard work and brilliant designs. It was such a fun and festive way to end the term!

But of course, school isn’t just about learning facts and figures—it’s about laughter, friendships, imagination, and finding joy in everyday moments. From silly story times to creative crafts, from playground adventures to team challenges, the Spring Term has been full of special memories we’ll treasure.

This term, we also celebrated Eid with our school community. We learned that Eid is a special time for many people, and it is a celebration of family, kindness, and giving. Some children wore their traditional clothes and shared how they celebrate Eid at home. We listened to stories and songs about Eid and talked about why it is important. We also got to enjoy some tasty treats together. It was a happy day, and we loved learning more about each other’s cultures and traditions.

Celebrating Excellent Attendance

A big well done to all our children who have achieved 100% attendance this term! We are incredibly proud of their dedication and the positive attitude they bring to school each day.

Good attendance is so important — it helps our children build strong learning habits, stay connected with their friends, and make steady progress across all areas of the curriculum. Every day at school is a chance to learn something new, take part in exciting activities, and grow in confidence.

Thank you to all our families for supporting your children in coming to school regularly and on time. Your encouragement and commitment make a big difference in helping our children succeed!

We’re so, so proud of our Year 2s. They’ve worked hard, been kind, supported one another, and made us smile every single day. As we head into our final term together, we’re filled with excitement (and maybe a few happy tears!) about what’s to come.

Wishing all of our children and families a joyful, restful, and chocolate-filled Easter break. Thank you for your continued support—it means the world to us. We can’t wait to see those smiling faces again soon for a Summer Term full of sunshine, learning, and a few more magical memories before they head off to Year 3!

“Spring is a time to grow — and just like the flowers, our Year 2 class has blossomed beautifully together. Keep shining, keep smiling, and keep being the amazing team you are.”

With love and springtime sparkles,
The Year 2 Team
