Last Friday, Hokusai used their mathematical problem solving skills to showcase their knowledge and understanding of mass and capacity!

They started by choosing their roles: facilitator, recorder, resource manager and understanding co-ordinator. Each person in the team of 4 took their roles very seriously, and they made sure everyone had a voice and made contributions to the final solution.

Next, they prepared their picture cards, looking carefully at the information that they could get just by looking before being given the clue cards. The facilitator read the cards and then everyone sprung into action! They checked to see with which card they should start before they began ordering them.

Finally, the understanding coordinator checked with the team that everyone was happy with the order they had chosen. Once everyone agreed, they checked with the class teacher to see if they were right. They articulated their methods and trials, noting down what helped and what challenged them.

Musa describes how he approached the problem.

Safiyyah describes a challenge that she came across with her team, and how she was able to solve it by using the clue cards!
