P4C

“We used teamwork when we sat back to back with our partners. We listened to their instructions to help us draw a picture. This was an example of being collaborative” Maisha

PE

“We learnt dance and basketball in PE. In dance we had to listen to the music then move how an animal would move. We put this all together into a class performance.” Amaar

“We created our own motifs. A motif is a pattern of movements, and we used them to tell a story about a hunter and some wild animals in a forest.” Shafaat

“I dribbled the ball in basketball.” Adyan

“I learnt that you need to bend your knees, keep your head up and use your fingers when you are dribbling the ball.” Zahraa

Food technology:

“The different techniques we learnt helped us to chop and slice safely. We used bridging and clawing to make a nice fruit salad.” Amaar

Science:

Our exploration of skeletons and how are bodies work so effectively took us on a visit to the Science Museum where the children investigated specimens and exhibits to help answer their BIG question.

Maths and Helping year 1:

“When we went to year one, we helped them learn how to practise their maths on TT Rockstars and Numbots. I enjoyed helping them because it made me feel happy” Fatima

“Helping year one was so wonderful because they were so positive and kind. Some of the year one children knew how to go on Numbots to practise adding and subtracting, but they all needed help to use TT Rockstars. They knew their 2 times tables and we helped them with the 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10’s.” Amelia

“In year one we got to act like teachers. It’s fun to help and to be kind.” Maryam A and Md Ali

“In class we were learning about length, perimeter, shapes and angles. The perimeter is the total length around the outside of a shape, and an angle is the amount of turn.” Shafaat

In the forest:

“We got to make a fire with sticks and shavings in Forest School, and we also took care of nature.” Warsame

“It was my first time learning outside for so many lessons. We collected sticks, used tools and worked safely.” Maryam I

“I remember that we made hot chocolate on our camp fire. It was really enjoyable.” Radeyah

English:

“We had lessons from a performer who helped us to write a rap, and then we had a poetry slam in the top hall. We were nervous because we had to do it on stage, but after a while we still did it and tried our best. We performed them to year 3 and 4.” Safia and Afsana

“I wrote about the time I broke my leg and went to the hospital. I turned it into a poem, and I was proud about what I wrote.” Emad

“Our writing was based on the Skeleton Woman. The class wrote a story about a Skeleton Cow and we did one of our own.” Adam
