On Friday the children had a fantastic experience using dominoes as a hands-on tool for problem-solving. Working in pairs, they explored various patterns and sequences, thinking critically about what would come next in each domino arrangement. It was wonderful to see them so engaged, collaborating closely with their classmates.

Throughout the afternoon, the children made some fascinating observations. Some noticed how the number of dots would decrease on one side of the domino while increasing on the other. Others were quick to recognise alternating or mirrored patterns. Each group brought their unique perspective to the task, leading to lively discussions and plenty of “Aha!” moments.

What stood out most was the way the children embraced the challenge. Not only were they practicing their math and logic skills, but they were also strengthening their ability to communicate and work as a team. By the end of the session, the sense of accomplishment was clear on their faces as they successfully identified the patterns and completed the puzzles.

This activity was a great reminder of how learning can be both fun and meaningful. Don’t be surprised if your child comes home excited to share their new pattern-recognition skills! We encourage you to explore dominoes at home, as it’s a wonderful way to reinforce the concepts we’ve been working on in class, while also enjoying some quality family time.
