We love Materials at Lansbury Lawrence! In Science this term, year 5 classes are learning about Materials with a particular focus on testing Materials for their different properties, their response to magnetism, electricity or heat. So far, y5 have had an amazing time being mini scientists. They conducted fair tests on the electrical and thermal conductivity of different materials. They put the materials through an electrical circuit to see if it made the circuit light up. If it did, they knew that it was a good conductor of electricity. They put the materials onto a heat source to see if it conducted the heat. If it did, they knew that is was a good conductor of heat. They were careful in recording their results onto a table and reflected on what they had learned about those different materials. Keep asking them questions about their learning in Science so they can consolidate it and also tell you about the fun they had! The smiles say it all!
