Wow what a fantastic turn out we had this morning from our families for our Maths Workshop! This was definitely the largest class I have delivered too! It was a wonderful start to the day, sharing how we teach number facts at Lansbury Lawrence and engaging in a timestable competition against one another. Families were also joined by our school governors, who got stuck into Timetstables Rockstars and competed to improve their average speed.
The session started with subitising, families were fantastic sharing how they saw each formation of dots and we discussed how that links to addition and subtraction. Next, we looked at Numbots and shared our weekly celebration of children with certificates for most improvement.
A special thank you to Mr Daley and the Maths Leaders who stole the show setting up a Timestables Rockstars battle for our families to compete in. Each family were given an opportunity to use a chromebook and compete against one another and improve their average speed. Parents shared their improved speed with one another proudly – unfortunately for me, my average speed progress was less impressive!
We look forward to welcoming our families to the next Maths Workshop in March and thank you all once again for a fantastic morning of Maths!
