Science club pupils had fun today making lava lamps. They used oil, coloured water and a seltzer tablet inside a bottle to make their lamps. They learned about density of different liquids (oil and water in today’s session). They tried to mix the two but saw how quickly they separated due to their density. They added a vitamin c seltzer tablet to make a chemical reaction. The carbon dioxide bubbles created a beautiful effect. Pupils took their lamps home and will use as a bedside accessory to enjoy while they read their books at night!
