This week in forest school, we spent a cold, drizzly afternoon…..collecting sticks! It might sound strange but we actually had a lot of fun searching for the right size and thickness in preparation for next week when we will be using them to make fire! It was important that we had a range of sizes so that our fire has the right fuel to catch easily and then to stay lit.

After finding our rang of sizes and sorting them, we then created some even smaller shavings of wood by whittling down some sticks, practising our safe tool use.
