This term we have been reading the story Brown Bear, Brown Bear. We now know all the colours of the rainbow and can make the different sounds that the characters make in the story. We then mixed paint together to make brown, we know that red, yellow and blue make brown. After painting the bears head, ears and body, we used a pen to add the features such as eyes, nose, mouth and teeth. You are more than welcome to come into our class to visit and look at our Brown Bears who are on display in the room.

This week we have been learning about keeping our bodies healthy! We learnt about how long we need to brush our teeth and when we need to brush our teeth! We used teeth in the water tray and toothpaste (shaving foam) to clean the teeth. We know that we need to clean our teeth in the morning and in the evening for two minutes and we move the brush up and down and round and round. This is a song that we used to help us remember.

In the month of October we have been celebrating Black History Month! We have been listening to some Reggae music and hearing stories from authors who are part of the BAME community. We also heard the story Alma’s Art, who was written about the African American artist Alma Woodsey Thomas! We then had a go at using colourful paints to make out own art just like Alma.

We also made some healthy cucumber sandwiches to eat at snacktime!

After hearing the story, ‘All Are Welcome’ we spoke about we all have some similarities and some differences. Abbe then showed us some traditional clothes that are worn for a Nigerian wedding! We were able to try on a headscarf called a Gelee and African Coral accessories.
