This week has been full of excitement, creativity, and reflection as we marked a very special occasion—the 70th anniversary of VE Day. It was a memorable day where we came together to remember the bravery and sacrifices of those who fought in the war. We spoke about how fortunate we are today thanks to the hard work and courage of so many. To celebrate, we enjoyed delicious scones and fresh fruit tea—what a treat!

In English, the children have begun writing their own versions of The Magical Paintbrush. It’s been magical in more ways than one, as many children have also been busy at home designing their very own magical wands and brushes, which they’ve proudly brought in to use during their learning. A huge thank you to all the parents who helped bring that spark of imagination to life!

In Maths, we’ve dived into the world of fractions, breaking things down into halves, quarters and thirds—and the children have taken on the challenge with such enthusiasm!

Meanwhile, in our wider curriculum, we’ve been learning all about Christopher Columbus and his great voyage of discovery. The children have been channelling their inner explorers by designing and drawing their own detailed maps—full of colour, imagination and adventure. As part of their exploration skills, they’ve also been learning how to use a compass and are becoming confident in identifying the four main directions: North, South, East and West. It’s been fantastic to see their curiosity come alive as they navigate the world around them, just like real explorers!

We are very proud of everything Year 2 has achieved this week. Thank you, as always, for your continued support at home.
