What a fantastic week it’s been in Year 2! The children have been bursting with creativity as they wrote their own versions of Beyond the Pond. They imagined their own characters and settings, crafting unique stories all by themselves.
After lots of hard work editing and improving their writing, they proudly published their final pieces. But the best part? Getting to share their stories with the Year 1 children! It was a joy to see them reading aloud, bringing their stories to life, and captivating the younger children as they listened. They also enjoyed looking at the wonderful illustrations, which made the stories even more exciting!
Encouraging a Love for Reading
It has been a joy to see the children embracing storytelling and sharing their wonderful creations with others. Moments like these highlight just how important reading and writing are in a child’s development.
We encourage all our young writers to continue reading for pleasure at home. Whether it’s a favourite bedtime story, a new adventure, or even revisiting their own creations, reading regularly helps to build vocabulary, spark imagination, and develop essential skills that will support them throughout their education and beyond.
A love for reading lasts a lifetime—let’s nurture it together!
Stories have the power to connect us, inspire us, and stay with us long after they’ve been told.
“The world is shaped by two things—stories told and the memories they leave behind.” – Vera Nazarian
