Year 5 explored multiplying fractions by integers in maths this morning. Children explored conceptually through manipulating Cuisenaire rods to represent different multiplication sentences. It is important that all children explore mathematical concepts and are given time to think deeply about the structures of maths. This helps us make rich connections with prior learning and within different units of learning.
Kahlo Class used their knowledge of parts and wholes and were able to represent their answers as Improper fractions and mixed number fractions.
