On Tuesday, year 4 went on a trip to the Royal Academy of Music for our Architecture in Schools Project. We talked to real-life architects and got to explore all through the theatre, sit up on the balcony and even go up onto the stage!
Here are some of the things we learnt.
I learnt that there is a big lift in the Royal Academy of Music – Manha
I learnt that there are lots of secret doors in the theatre, in case there is a fire and that even though the crystals on the roof were fake, the ones in the wall were real. – Juwariah
During our trip to the Royal Academy of Music, I learnt that the ‘chain mail wall’ was built to absorb sound and reduce echo in the lobby – Khadya
I learnt that there are tiny holes on the walls to stop the music from echoing – Ibrahim M
I learnt that the building was refurbished 4 years ago – Muhsina
I learnt at the Royal Academy of Music that they paint the walls black so that the light doesn’t reflect and distract the audience – Maryam
