During the half term, we had the absolute pleasure of attending the announcement of the Young London Print Prize winners at the famous Piccadilly lights, in central London. Out of over 2000 entries, Afsana in year 6 was the 1st prize winner! Her beautiful artwork, titled Alone Darkness, highlighted issues around plastic pollution within our world’s oceans through depicting a lone jellyfish in a dark sea. It was projected onto the huge lights for all of the public to see. It was amazing!
The following day, there was an awards ceremony at Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair, where Tangila in year 6 also received a prize for being our school winner. Tangila’s fantastic print was titled, Midnight in the Mountains. Both of their prints were exhibited within the fair.
Congratulations to both winners, we are incredibly proud of your artistic achievements. Here is a picture of Afsana with Shirley Rodrigues, London Deputy Mayor for Environment and Energy, receiving her trophy.
