On Monday, Hepworth Class to a trip to the Natural History Museum, where we got the chance to be palaeontologists for the day. We had to excavate some dinosaur bones and identify what creature they had come from.
We also learnt how to identify a fossil, they are dark, heavy, made of rock and have patterns and lines on them. Holding fossils that were millions of years was so amazing!
Taking a walk through the fossil gallery, we saw hundreds of fossils that Mary Anning had collected. She was a fossil hunter many years ago and found her first fossil when she was only 12 years old!
Finally, on our way out, we got to see a real life mammoth skeleton. It was huge and looked just like an elephant.
