Yesterday, members of the school eco committee met with some of our important lunch staff to witness the results of their work over the last few months.

Each day after lunch, leftover salad & food is collected from the kitchen by eco committee members and placed inside our wormery in the edible garden.

Over time, the worms inside the containers chew through the food and turn it into nutritious soil which we can then use in our garden to help plants grow.

The stages of composting: top level has the fresh food, lower levels have already become nutritious soil.

Joe, our school gardener, has helped to oversee this process and will now be using this fresh compost to help new plants grow in the spring.

Many thanks to the kitchen staff, the eco committee and Joe for doing their bit to reduce waste and help Mother Nature.
