Year 1 are becoming masters at using a small paintbrush and washing their brushes between colour applications. They have created a whole gallery of beautiful works inspired by the painting, Castle and the Sun, by Paul Klee (1879-1940).
First we explored shape, and how a castle can be created through combining shapes. Next we explored printmaking, with a simple cardboard printing plate to create line. Finally, we used our developed knowledge of the painting to combine oil pastel and watercolour to make a final image.
We have really enjoyed exploring the different mediums and techniques.
