Teeth are very important without them you would not be able to chew your food.
We need to look after our teeth so this week we have been learning all about how to look after our teeth, what is healthy and unhealthy food to eat. We even made our own dentist surgery.
How to look after our teeth?
We learnt that you need to brush your teeth twice a day, in the morning and before you go to bed. That you put a small amount of toothpaste, the size of a pea onto the brush and a little bit of water. Don’t swallow the liquid in your mouth, spit it into the sink.
Make sure you brush for two minutes making sure you start at the back and side and finish at the front.
We practiced with our pretend toothbrushes. Our arms were very tired when we got to 58 seconds left and we realised 2 minutes is a long time to brush.
What is healthy and unhealthy food to eat?
We talked about what food is healthy and unhealthy and agreed that sweet foods and drinks can be bad for your teeth and fruits and vegetables are better. The children played a game and had to decide if the foods were good or bad. The children made excellent choices showing that they know about bad foods.
We all love sweets, cakes and biscuits and we know the sugar is not good for your teeth but if you do eat these treats make sure you give your teeth a good brush.
Our Dentist Surgery:
We enjoyed playing at the Dentist Surgery. We had a Dentist, Receptionist and patients. The children made appointments and found out what the problem was before seeing the dentist.
