Earlier this year, both classes in Year 5 were learning about Planet Protectors and loved reading This Morning I Met a Whale (by Michael Morpurgo), exploring the story of a whale which saw up the river Thames in literacy.
Students from Kahlo Class took up the challenge of representing the school in the Golden Book Awards 2019 at Mayflower School, with five children being chosen to plan and present a book review. The book they chose was This Morning I Met a Whale, because of it’s important ecological message about caring for the environment.
The contest had them competing against students from other local schools, and, despite lots of nerves on the day, the students performed admirably and received a set of new books for their class for their efforts. Well done to all the children, and thanks to Mr. Daley & Ms. Lockhart for supporting!
