Delaunay had their last P4C lesson of the half-term yesterday. Children discussed their chosen question: Is it possible to be friends with everyone?
Afreen: If you only have a few friends, that can teach you how to be friends with anyone.
Areen: You can have lots of friends but maybe not everyone because you can’t play with all of them at the same time.
Yousef: It’s possible when you look on the inside of people.
Rihan: Even two friends is ok.
The class reached this philosophical question and were able to ponder after first sharing their initial ideas about a simple picture, then gradually delving deeper into the themes and concepts they were connecting to their thoughts. Children were also mindful of articulating their points and responses in a considerate manner because we were trying to be caring thinkers.
P4C is helping us to develop skills such as being able to express ourselves clearly, to think through abstract ideas critically and to listen to others.
We also held school council elections this week; a big congratulations to Amira and Minh who were selected to represent our class this year. They will be joining other members from across years 1-6 to help our students be a part of what happens in their school.
