On Friday evening there was a very special event held at East Wintergarden in Canary Wharf. The annual Architecture in Schools awards ceremony was attended by school children, their families, teachers, and professional architects, from all over London. It was a brilliant atmosphere with everyone celebrating each other’s architectural achievements. Hearing children talk about what they had learned, and seeing their models and visions for buildings and town planning, was incredibly inspiring. We have taken part in the project for several years now, and it’s exciting to think that some children may go on to be architects themselves in the future.
The final award of the evening was the overall ‘Celebration City Champions’, and we are incredibly pleased to announce that Lansbury Lawrence was one of the joint winners alongside St Mary and St Michael Primary School. Rida wrote a speech for year 4 to share on stage, and the children spoke confidently about what the project meant to them. Well done Year 4, you should all be very proud of your hard work! Thank you to all the Year 4 teaching team and to Allies & Morrison, the architects we were partnered with, for your support and enthusiasm making this project such a success.
