In year one we have been budding scientists learning all about our body parts and the senses.
First, we learnt about sight and how we can use our eyes to observe carefully. We enjoyed observationally drawing funny pumpkins, grapes and physalis fruits.
Next, we learnt about touch and how we use our skin to feel. We all shared objects and discussed how they felt. We noticed some things can feel more than one way at a time, the red boarder felt smooth and bumpy.
Then, we learnt about smell. We all talked about our favourite smells and why we liked them. In class we all liked the smell of oranges but we had mixed views on coffee.
We also enjoyed learning about taste and we shared our favourite tastes and even tasted some yummy food. We started talking about what food and tastes birds and squirrels like so Ms Hopkins helped us to make bird feeders from apples and sunflower seeds. It was really hard to push the seeds into the apples but we had so much fun. In the morning there were no seeds and barely any apple left.
