This term, we’ve been learning all about habitats—from forests and grasslands to ponds and wetlands. The children have explored the different creatures that live in these environments and how they are perfectly suited to their homes. But nothing beats seeing it all in real life!
On Tuesday, we took an exciting trip to the Soanes Centre, where the children became real-life scientists. With curious minds ready, they were ready to explore!
The children were so excited to dip their nets into the pond and see what they could find. Every scoop revealed tiny creatures swimming about and aquatic plants swaying in the water. It was like stepping into a whole new world!
There were lots of smiles and excitement as the children watched, studied, and recorded their discoveries. They weren’t just learning—they were experiencing nature firsthand.
Bringing Learning to Life
This trip was more than just a fun day out. It helped the children see their classroom learning come to life, understand how different creatures depend on their habitats, and appreciate the world around them even more.
As we wrapped up our trip, one quote stood out:
“Teaching children about the natural world should be treated as one of the most important events in their lives.” – Thomas Berry
This experience was a special one—full of discovery, excitement, and a growing love for nature that will stay with the children for a long time.
A huge thank you to the parents who joined us on the trip—your support, as always, is appreciated! We love having you with us on these adventures.
