Last week, our learning was all about caring for our planet. We learned about what materials can be recycled. In our provision, we have enjoyed making things from the plastic, cardboard, paper and foil items that the parents have contributed.

It felt great to re-use the packaging for some fun activities. We made a house, robots, treasure boxes, a camera and many other items. We enjoyed using the waste materials so much that next week we shall continue to create items from the waste.materials.

We know what we can recycle!

Will Tully & Team visited our school on Tuesday:

We invited a special visitor to our school on Wednesday, from Tower Hamlets Recycling. Mr Will Tully arrived with his team and a huge Purple Recycling Monster that could talk! Every time we showed the recycling monster an item that he could not recycle it made a sad sound, “Aw!”

The children enjoyed learning about black plastic waste bags. Will said that anything thrown into a black bin bag would not be recycled. It made us think!

Recycling Monster
No Black Bags in recycling please!

Our Litter Picking Trip to Bartlett Park:

We were very lucky with the weather for our trip to Bartlett Park. We had lots of parents supporting the children and lots of litter pickers. Bartlett park is a very clean park, we noticed lots of litter bins and we were glad there wasn’t too much litter to collect. In the end we picked up some leaves using our fine motor skills. As a treat we went to the play park and had lots more fun.
