This morning, Year 6 were focussing on the strategy of ‘finding all possibilities’ with problem solving challenges from Nrich. At Lansbury Lawrence we teach 8 key problem solving strategies through our maths learning with the goal to equip all our children with a bank of strategies to draw upon when faced with unfamiliar problems and challenges.
Year 6 worked collaboratively with learning partners to discuss approaches to the problems and decide the most efficient way to record their findings. Once a system was established, children were then able to find all possibilities strategically and identify when no more could be found. Here are the links to the problems children approached today:
