Year 5 developed their woodworking skills recently, through building frame structures. These structures are the basis for bird hide designs. Bird hides allow people to observe the movement of birds discreetly, within an enclosed structure that is camouflaged. We used hacksaws, bench hooks, and had to measure wood carefully. We learnt the importance of corner brackets to strengthen our structures.
