Year 5 had our first Forest School Session today, with a group of children going out into the Secret Garden to explore our surroundings. We used all our senses to explore the area and see what we noticed around us. There were lots of glistening snail trails, crunching leaves and even some sharp-scented berries.

Then we took a closer look at what minibeasts we could find. We saw lots of spiders, ants and woodlice.

Finally, we built small shelters out of natural materials such as twigs, leaves and feathers.

I loved being outside and finding minibeasts. After we built our shelters it was important for us to ‘Leave no trace’ so we were careful to spread our materials back around the area
