Meet your new teacher!

On a normal year, all of you would have met your new  teacher and be excited for September. We’ve not been able to do this this year, so we’ve put together this page to introduce you to your new class.

Before you look at your video below, we’re saying goodbye to a few staff members and I’d like to wish them well and thank them for all of their hard work and dedication to your learning. I’d especially like to thank them for everything that they’ve done over the last 4 months.  The staff we are saying goodbye to are:

  • Ms Helen Ruskin
  • Ms Rohimat Adebola
  • Ms Shukri Ahmed
  • Mr Jacob McDonald
  • Ms Lucy Hurry

I know that you’ll join me in wishing them the very best for their futures.

We also have one teacher joining us, Ms Ann Yoo who will be teaching in Reception. There are 4 teachers who you may know already that will now be class teachers: Mr Neil Daley; Ms Rhiannon Cahill; Ms Karen Dickman; and Ms Katherine Hodge. I know that you will enjoy getting to know them better.

This year, if you are in Year 1 or Year 6, there will be three classes! We think that this is a great way to help you learn better next year. It does mean that if you are coming from reception or Year 5, you’ll have some different classmates in September as we’ve mixed the classes so that there are 20 children in each class.

In year 1, the new class will be called Kapoor Class, named after Anish Kapoor, whose works include the Arcelormittal Orbit in the Olympic Park. In Year 6, the new class will be called Hadid, named after Zaha Hadid, whose works include the London Olympics Aquatic Centre.

Your teachers are really looking forward to meeting you and have made videos to help you get to know them before you start. They’re also really keen that everyone completes the summer reading challenge. You can find out more by visiting the Ideas Store or this link: https://summerreadingchallenge.org.uk/

We won’t be posting any new learning, but if you’re looking for things to do, all of the learning and websites that we’ve used over the last few months will still be there for you and linked through your Google Classroom and the school website.

Have a great summer, relax, and do lots of reading.

Owen O’Regan
