This afternoon, nine of us in Year 6 went to visit the residents of Duncan Court. A few of us had been there before and we were looking forward to meeting them again, especially Alf and his fish.
When we arrived, the residents were watching TV but they were happy for us to sing a few of the songs from our end of year production: Matilda. They seemed very impressed – one of them even asked if we were going to participate in the TV show ‘Britain’s Got Talent’.
After the songs, we chose a reading partner and we offered to read a story to them. Some got really into it and asked to read 3 or 4 books, another resident read to us one of our books, it was very special.
Finally, the moment we were all waiting for arrived and we went outside to feed Alf’s fish. We counted 13 of them, all different from each other in colours and size. Fred told us to be careful not to put our finger in the pond as the white carps can bite.
The residents were thankful for our visit (and so we were), some gave us a ‘High Five’, others a ‘good luck’ for September and lots of smiles.
Today we added another piece of special memory onto our journey at Lansbury Lawrence.
