This week, Carle Class have been very busy with their learning! Our summer theme has been all about mini beasts. We’ve been exploring the fascinating world of tiny creatures like snails, caterpillars, spiders and worms. We’ve learned all about where these mini beasts live, how they move, and how we can find them.

Carle Class also started reading a new book called “Bree Finds a New Friend!” In the story, Bree becomes friends with a wiggly worm—and we know that worms are mini beasts! Inspired by the story, the children had a chance to make their own wormy friend. We used paper, straws, and cellotape to create them. They practiced their fine motor skills by folding the paper back and forth to make their worms look like they’re wiggling. Now, every child in Carle Class has a wiggly new friend of their own!

In maths, we’ve been learning about weight and exploring the difference between objects that are light and heavy. The children now know that light objects are easy to lift, while those that are harder to lift are heavy. They were given the challenge to find items in the classroom that were light and heavy and then show an adult which was which. They all did a fantastic job and really impressed us with their thinking.

It’s been a week fully of curiosity, creativity and hands-on discovery, and we can’t wait to see what we discover next!
