Today some of our children in UKS2 had an exciting opportunity to ask award-winning singer-songwriter, composer and Royal Academy of Music graduate Rosabella Gregory some questions about her life, influences and work within the music industry.
Our children created some lovely questions to ask Rosabella, from “Do you come from a musical family”? to “How has music impacted your life”? and Rosabella answered the questions with grace and honesty.
We were introduced to her work after watching an online opera called “Sammy and the Beanstalk” which was an introduction to opera created by a company called Up Opera Up Close. Rosabella, composed the music for the opera. Sammy and the Beanstalk is a fun and spooky, contemporary urban fairy tale, which draws inspiration from classic winter tales, both cosy and gothic, as well as opera, theatre and film to create a thrilling story-telling experience.
Rosabella is a sought-after arranger, working with a diverse array of artists from Sarod virtuoso Soumik Datta, to UK pop sensation, Busted. As a solo artist, she has produced and released three solo albums and performed internationally supporting acts such as the legendary Jools Holland, and going solo at venues like 606, Pizza Express Jazz Club, Live at Zédel and the Royal Festival Hall.
