It has been an exciting start to the year for Van Gogh class. Over the past two weeks the children have had a trip to The Tower of London as part of their English and Theme topics for this half term. The children explored The Tower and were able to see the rich history available on their doorstep. They were able to see the Crown Jewels and the ‘Bloody Tower’ where Richard III confined his nephews the Two Princes to. We have yet to solve the mystery of what happened to the two young Princes.
Enjoying the beautiful weather on our way to the Tower of London. Group picture after discovering a secret entrance to the Tower. We even bumped into some dangerous prisoners from the time of King Henry VIII. Van Gogh class trying to solve the mystery behind the disappearance of the Two Princes whilst inside the ‘Bloody Tower.’
They’ve had amazing lessons in English delving into the world of Shakespeare by reading an adaption of Richard III and are now writing their own diaries from the perspective of Richard III. The children spent time mapping the story and using drama to get a better understanding of the text before we started writing.

In Maths they’ve immersed themselves in learning about Place Value, Roman Numerals and Rounding Numbers. We even managed to take our Maths lesson out into the playground where the children became physical numbers as our introduction to rounding numbers.
Getting ready for our Maths lesson. Beautiful day for taking our Maths lesson outside.
