We are celebrating today, after receiving a prestigious Artsmark Award.
The Artsmark Award is the only creative quality standard for schools, accredited by Arts Council England. It supports schools to develop and celebrate arts and cultural education, putting creativity and wellbeing at the heart of the curriculum. Artsmark ensures every young person can be creative and access a diverse, high-quality cultural education. Lansbury Lawrence is the first school in Tower Hamlets to receive Artsmark Platinum, the highest level of Artsmark Award.
In order to achieve our award, we had to develop our arts and culture provision to embed a broad and ambitious curriculum. This was achieved by creating an overall plan that was committed to and delivered across the whole school.
We were supported by A New Direction in planning and developing our objectives, so a big thanks to them for all of their support throughout. Thanks also to our wonderful creative and cultural partners, who have been integral to us receiving this award. Tower Hamlets really is a brilliant place to live and learn.
The Artsmark assessor commented, ‘It is abundantly clear that you are doing wonderful things with the Arts and setting an example of what can be achieved through committed senior leadership and strong strategic planning and partnerships.’
We’re extremely proud of achieving our Artsmark Platinum Award, and are committed to continuing to deliver a high-quality arts and cultural education at Lansbury Lawrence.
Dr Darren Henley OBE, Chief Executive of the Arts Council, said: “I would like to congratulate Lansbury Lawrence on their Artsmark Award. Becoming an Artsmark school demonstrates that through offering a broad, ambitious, and creative curriculum, every pupil can develop character and resilience, increasing their knowledge, curiosity and skills that will remain with them through to adult life.”
