This week in Shireen we have been learning all about ourselves. We have read the books ‘Who are you?’ by Smriti Halls and ‘Skin Again’ by Bell Hooks to guide our discussions about how we are all different and how our differences are what makes us unique!
Self-Portraits
We have looked at self-portraits by famous artists such as Van Gogh and Frida Kahlo. The children have all created their own self-portraits using mixed media throughout the week. We have thought carefully about what we look like and how we can portray this through expressive arts and design. We used a range of media, such as pencils, paint, soft pastels, crayons, felt tips, playdough and string. Have a look at the amazing self-portraits we made!
