All the children have settled into Year 1 really well and Ms Dickman, Ms Ahmed and Ms Begum have been impressed by their enthusiasm for learning. We are making lots of friends and enjoying all kinds of activities. Here are some of the highlights from this term:
In Science we have been learning all about our 5 senses. We used our sight to find beautiful things on our nature walk, touch to feel different textures (baked beans were particularly disgusting and slimy!), tried different tastes (the onion was “revolting”!), explored lots of smells and, using our hearing, have played guess the sound.
In art, we have been exploring paint. We’ve been learning to hold a paintbrush and exploring tone. We also looked at different types of paint.
In maths, we have been working on place value within 10. Here we are ordering numbers from smallest to greatest.
Finally, we went on a wonderful trip to Chrisp Street Market to help us answer our curriculum theme question, How has Chrisp Street Market changed over time? We bought some fruit from the market, which we enjoyed eating when we got back to class. I’m sure you heard all about it at home!
We have been enjoying lots of singing in Goldsworthy class this term too. Here is a new song we learnt to finish the half term called This is Home. We came up with the actions ourselves.
And, just because we think laughing is very important in Goldsworthy class, we thought we would make you laugh to finish the half term! Have a lovely holiday everyone and we can’t wait to see you on 1st November.
