This week in year 3, we have been exploring our new science topic of forces!

We have been thinking about different forces that we use everyday that involve pushing or pulling.

We did an experiment to compare how an object moves on different surfaces. We had to roll a toy car down 3 ramps made of different materials:

  1. Soft, rough carpet
  2. Hard, rough sandpaper
  3. Smooth plastic.

First, we had to predict which material the toy car would move the furthest on. Then, we had to test each material 3 times to make sure it was a fair experiment. Here are our results:

As you can see, we found that the car went the furthest when it was rolled down the smooth, plastic slope. We also noticed that it moved faster on this material too!
