It’s been a busy half term for us in Yinka Class and we have enjoyed learning and exploring lots of new and exciting activities.

In Literacy we have been reading stories about our community and the jobs that people do. We listened to sensory stories, worked on our mark-making and role-played people from a variety of professions including doctors, dentists, farmers, firefighters, chefs and builders.

In maths this half term we have been learning about shape. We explored 2d shapes in sensory trays, learnt to recognise and identify 2d shapes and some of us made shape patterns. We did some work with Bow Arts and made shape stamps. We then used them to make shape prints in paint.

We have also been learning about ordinal numbers. We raced cars down ramps and used ordinal numbers to describe their position. We built towers and used ordinal numbers to count the blocks as we built. We lined up our toys and described their positions.

We have recently been learning about capacity. We explored filling and pouring with a variety of containers at the water tray. We used language such as full, empty, half full, overflowing to describe capacities.

We have been lucky enough this half term to work with Amy from Bow Arts. We have enjoyed activities including painting, sculpture and exploring clay.

It was lovely to finish the half term with our parents who visited us in Yinka. We enjoyed our Christmas Party and activities.

We hope everyone has a lovely Christmas break and look forward to seeing you all in January for more fun and learning!
