Last week, we learned about our community and visited Chrisp Street Market to see what shops and services we could notice. In class, we all had a go at making places in our local community. We really enjoyed making the clocktower in Chrisp street market.

Our map:

Where do we live in the world?

In class, we studied the map of the world and talked about what we could see. The children noticed the land and the water. Umaira: “Dolphins live in the sea, we don’t”.

We discussed that we live in the United Kingdom, in a City called London. Some children had a got at making their own maps.

We used Google Earth to zoom into our local area and we could see our school from a ‘birds eye’ view.

We then looked at other places that the children told us their families were from. Some children told us their grandparents came from Uruguay, Italy and Bangladesh.

Lot’s of opportunity to play:

We had a town in the construction area and a bakery, fruit and veg market in the home area. Lastly, we enjoyed the fruit we purchased from Chrisp Street Market. We shared it as a community. Hamilton Community.
