On Monday, Year 2 had an exciting trip to the Soanes Centre with our trip guide, Dim. We went to learn all about habitats, the special places where animals and plants live.
First, we explored the trees. Trees are full of life! We spotted birds, insects, and even little bugs hiding in the leaves and bark. It was amazing to see how many creatures make their homes there.

We also explored the plants around us. We got to smell different herbs and plants, like chives, and talked about how some plants have special smells to attract animals or keep bugs away. It was so much fun using our noses to learn about plants!

We gently rubbed the chives between our fingers and noticed how the leaves felt soft and thin.
Many children shouted, βIt smells like onions!β

Next, we visited the pond. The pond was full of interesting creatures! We saw lots of insects and bugs living in and around the water. Dim even showed us some of them in trays, so we could look at them up close.

We learned that every animal and plant has a home that gives them food, water, and shelter. Some live in trees, some in ponds, and some on the ground. Looking after habitats is very important so all the creatures can stay safe and happy.
It was a fantastic day discovering new animals and their homes. Thank you to Dim for guiding us through such an amazing adventure!
