Our Year 2 class had an amazing time visiting the Poplar Fire Station to learn all about how emergency services help us in our community. It was an exciting day full of questions and plenty of exploration!

What did we do?
- Explored the Equipment: We got to see all sorts of fire-fighting gear, including helmets, jackets, and even the big fire trucks! The firefighters showed us how the trucks are used in emergencies, and we learned about the different tools they carry. We also saw hoses and an array of other rescue equipment too.
- Asked Lots of Questions: Our questions included how the firefighters stay safe during a fire; what happens when they get a call; and how they help people in emergencies. They were all so friendly and answered all our questions with big smiles.
- Used the Hose: Possibly the most exciting highlight for our children was getting the chance to try out the fire hose! It was so much fun, and we learned how powerful the water is when the fire trucks use it to extinguish fires.

What We Learned:
We now know that firefighters don’t just put out fires—they also help in all kinds of emergency situations, such as rescuing people from accidents or saving animals in danger. They work really hard to keep our community safe, and we are so grateful for everything they do.
It was such an informative and fun trip, and the children can’t wait to learn more about the brave people who protect us every day!
