Hello!

At the end of our term in which we learned about toys, Goldsworthy Class enjoyed a bright and exciting day out at the Young V&A Museum.

It was our first time travelling by bus as a group! The children were full of enthusiasm and ready to explore a space designed especially for young creators.

The museum immediately captured their imaginations.

In the Designing for Play gallery, the children explored toys from different eras and experimented with designing their own using the interactive displays.

In the Art and Design area, the children were inspired by colourful artworks and enjoyed sketching, crafting, and building with a range of materials. Their creativity shone through in every activity.

Hands-on zones—including digital design tables, building areas, and sensory spaces—kept everyone engaged. The sand play and the calm Storytelling Zone were particular favourites, offering moments of both excitement and calm reflection.

We then stopped to have a lunch break and enjoyed our packed lunches together!

Before heading back to school, we explored a little bit more of the museum.

By the end of the day, Year 1 were buzzing with ideas and eager to bring their creativity back into the classroom. The Young V&A offered a wonderful mix of learning, imagination, and fun. We’re already looking forward to our next adventure!
