Today, Year 5 classes visited the British Museum where they got to experience 5,000 years of human history in a single day. Their learning theme this half term is all about the Ancient Egyptians, so they headed to the captivating Egyptian galleries in the museum. What followed was a journey filled with monumental statues, intricate hieroglyphs, and echoes of a civilization that continues to mesmerize the modern world. Pupils were fascinated to see mummified bodies of pharaohs and priests, the ‘book of the dead’ scroll, shabti dolls, various sarcophagus’, canopic jars and other wonderful treasures and artefacts from the ancient Egyptian times. Have a look at some of the pictures we took of the artefacts that intrigued us!
