For DT morning today, Kahlo and Lichtenstein class pupils rolled up their sleeves and travelled back in time—well, almost! The classroom transformed into an ancient Egyptian bakery as the children mixed flour, water, and a pinch of curiosity to make their very own flat bread. There was plenty of enthusiastic kneading, a little bit of accidental flour-snowfall, and lots of excitement as they shaped their dough just like the Egyptians did thousands of years ago. When the bread finally cooked, the room filled with a warm, toasty smell that made everyone feel like they were standing beside the River Nile. By the end of the DT lesson, the children had not only tasted history—they made it! Take a look at some of the images from the day capturing the fun, creativity and collaborative learning that took place. Do ask your child to tell you all about it, or even try it at home to consolidate their learning!
