Wow Writers in Reception

We are enjoying using our gross and fine motor skills to make marks, draw and write. Every day we get the opportunity to use our fabulous skills to put our name on our learning, draw a picture for home, write and make books in our learning space.

Here are some key points for Wow mark making that eventually lead to Wow Writing.

Threading is good for fine motor
rolling and playing with playdoh is good for fine motor
Drawing and writing on big sheets of paper is good for mark making and writing
Good posture supports good mark making
Drawing on big paper encourages gross motor skills
Scooting with two wheels supports balance and gross motor skills
Practising our gross motor skills with large letter formation
Drawing pictures supports mark making
Cutting supports fine motor skills
Drawing and name writing
Drawing a road system supports pen grip and motor skills
