What a wonderful World Book Day we enjoyed in Year 3! From the moment the children arrived, the classroom was filled with excitement, imagination and the kind of joy that only stories can bring.
We began our morning gathered together as Mrs Ferdush shared her favourite book from childhood. The children listened with bright eyes, already inspired and eager to explore stories of their own. It was a lovely reminder of how the books we love when we are young stay with us for life.
Throughout the day, the children took part in a variety of creative and fun activities. One of the highlights was designing our book‑cover quilt for the classroom door. Each child created a square inspired by a book they loved, and when we put them all together, it became a colourful celebration of reading and imagination.
Everyone had the opportunity to read to the class, sharing stories with confidence and pride. Later, we visited Year 1 and the children were so excited to read their favourite books to the younger pupils. It was a beautiful moment of connection and kindness, showing how stories can bring people of all ages together.
World Book Day reminds us how powerful and pleasurable reading truly is. A good book can take us on an adventure, teach us something new, comfort us when we need it and spark our imaginations in ways nothing else can. Today, the children didn’t just celebrate books, they stepped into them.
