We are saying good bye to our rainforest topic which has given us a rich learning journey. In English, we brought the rainforest to life by writing fiction stories based on The Great Kapok Tree and descriptive list poems. In DT, we created rainforest postcards with moving parts. In Geography, we have learnt exciting facts about rainforest climates, biodiversity and environmental challenges. And P4C helped us explore how being caring thinkers can relate to our views about the world around us.

Ehsaan: “I now know that deforestation means destroying habitats, and we discussed the ways we can help reduce it.”

Ishak: “I didn’t know buying palm oil products adds to deforestation.”

Areen: “I learnt, that canopy is a layer that keeps the rainforest dark.”

Rayaan: “Did you know the Yanomami tribe in the Amazon rainforest hunt jaguars for their meat and fur?”

Mayhirema: “I didn’t know rainforests are much more humid than the UK, with 1500-3000mm yearly rain.”

Yousef: “The Amazon rainforest covers 5.5 million square km which is 22.5 times the size of the UK.”

Sarah’s end of half-term presentation:

Wishing you all a wonderful Christmas holiday! In January, we will resume with the Anglo-Saxons.
